cupping and moxa treatment
Cupping and Moxa (or Moxibustion)
are usually done at specific locations (often called acupoints) on the body's natural energy channels (or meridians), the same points used in acupuncture. At these sites, the body's natural Qi (pronounced as chee) energy can be accessed for clearing blockages or stagnation, and so a healthy natural energy flow pattern can be restored.
Cupping
uses suction to pull up the tissue and stimulate Qi in the area. The cup may be moved along the line of a meridian or muscle tension. It is particularly good on the back and shoulders.
Moxibustion
is only used where the body or part of it has become cold. Often this coldness is just felt as pain but when the area is warmed, it is both comforting and eases the pain . It can be combined with acupuncture treatment to stimulate points which will restore the natural warming yang energies of the body.
Used as it is in the East, Chinese therapy can be an effective treatment for both internal and musculo-skeletal conditions.
